Foundations Recovery Network is proud to partner with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to sponsor Recovery Month events across the nation. We’d love for you to join us in celebrating recovery at La Paloma Treatment Center in Memphis on September 12, 2009.
During Recovery Month each September, communities across the country join together to help people recognize that substance use disorders are treatable diseases. This year’s Recovery Month theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Learn, Together We Heal,” promotes the need for better awareness about addiction and educates the entire community about the importance of access to treatment and recovery tools.
Recovery Month aims to ensure that all those affected by addiction are aware of and can seek treatment so they can reclaim their lives in recovery. Recovery Month also serves to inform the public that substance abuse is a national health crisis, that addiction is a treatable disease, and that recovery is possible.
This month long celebration highlights the benefits of treatment for not only the affected individual, but for their family, friends, workplace, and society as a whole. Educating the public reduces the stigma associated with addiction and treatment. Accurate knowledge of the disease helps people to understand the importance of supporting treatment programs, those who work within the treatment field, and those in need of treatment.
