Greece’s PM Costa Karamanlis Calls Snap General Election

Greece’s Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis has called for a snap general election in the country, attempting to take advantage of a small majority he currently holds in parliament.

Karamanlis announced “I am seeking a fresh political mandate” during a television address but did not set a date for the elections.

The decision to call for an early election surprised few as Karamanlis has been fighting to hang on to his narrow majority in parliament despite the resignations of several conservative MPs.
