Rapper Nelly was briefly detained in Texas Wednesday night after border patrol officers discovered drugs and a loaded gun on his tour bus. The discovery was made at a Sierra Blanca checkpoint where several other celebrities, including Fiona Apple, Willie Nelson and Armie Hammer, have previously been arrested for drugs.
The Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office said officers found .64 oz of heroin and a .45 caliber pistol during an initial search. A second sweep of the bus uncovered a duffel bag containing 10.4 lbs of marijuana.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes, and six passengers were detained until one man claimed ownership of the drugs and the gun. The man was arrested and Nelly and the others were released. Nelly has not commented.
The rapper will release his seventh album, M.O., soon.
