U.S. Open 2009 Round 2 Results: Roger Federer Moves into Third Round Following Straight Set Win Over Simon Greul

Roger Federer stayed on track for his sixth straight U.S. Open title and his 16th Grand Slam singles title on Wednesday night after knocking off Simon Greul in straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 7-5.

 

Federer once again dominated with a controlled serve as he won 72 percent of his first serves put in play and 71 percent of his second offerings. The Swiss star collected eight aces and 35 winners while breaking Greul’s serve on four of eight opportunities.

 

Federer recently captured his first title at the French Open, marking a career Grand Slam as he has won Wimbledon six times, the U.S. Open five times and the Australian Open three times.
