NBA Scores from Jan. 9; Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki, and LeBron James lead their teams to wins.

Al Harrington scored 18 points and had 6 rebounds while Jeff Foster pulled down an additional 17 boards as the Indiana Pacers (19-16) ran by the Atlanta Hawks (10-22) 91-72. Danny Granger added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Pacers and the Indiana defense held the Hawks to just 32 percent shooting on the night.

The Detroit Pistons (20-12) got 33 points from Tayshaun Prince and Ronald Murray had 12 points and 12 assists in their 98-89 win over the Philadelphia 76ers (9-25). Richard Hamilton had a strong game for the Pistons with 22 points and 7 assists as Detroit shot 56 percent from the field. Samuel Dalembert had 14 points and 17 rebounds for the 76ers.

Vince Carter scored 32 points and 7 assists while Jason Kidd fell two rebounds short of a triple-double with 10 points, 14 assists and 8 boards as the New Jersey Nets (15-19) pulled away from the Toronto Raptors (15-20) in the second half to win 101-86. The Nets trailed the Raptors 48-47 at the break but outscored Toronto 27-17 in the third quarter. Jose Calderon led the Raptors with 16 points and 12 assists.

The San Antonio Spurs (25-11) shot 52 percent from three-point range and Tim Duncan scored 16 points while grabbing 9 rebounds to beat the Portland Trail Blazers (14-22) 98-84. San Antonio was 11-21 from beyond the arch while Portland could manage just 3-13 from that distance. Zach Randolph led the Trail Blazers with 25 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

The Memphis Grizzlies (9-27) scored 46 points in the third quarter to shock the Los Angeles Lakers (23-12) 128-118. The Lakers were up 57-52 heading into the third quarter but the Grizzlies out scored them 46-22 in the deciding period. Mike Miller scored 25 points and Pau Gasol added 25 points and 13 rebounds in the Grizzlies win. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points.

Shawn Marion had 29 points and 15 rebounds and Steve Nash had 27 points and 11 assists as the Phoenix Suns (26-8) turned up the heat in the second half to beat the Seattle Supersonics (13-24) 113-102. The Suns shot 57 percent form the field while playing with just eight players. Seattle was led by Nick Collison who had 29 points and 21 rebounds.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 38 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks (28-8) past the Utah Jazz (24-11) 108-105. Josh Howard added 21 points and 9 rebounds while Jason Terry had 18 points and handed out 6 assists for the Mavericks.  The Jazz were led by Carlos Boozer who had 29 points but was held in check on the glass with just 4 rebounds in the game.

LeBron James scored 34 points, 24 of which came in the second half, and the Cleveland Cavaliers (22-12) used a big third quarter to beat the Sacramento Kings (14-18) 108-98. The Cavs out scored the Kings 37-17 in the third quarter to overcome a 53-38 halftime deficit. James added 7 assists to his line while Drew Gooden finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Martin had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings.
