Johnny Depp, ‘Pirates’, Raid People’s Choice Awards

Johnny Depp collected the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male Movie Star and Best Male Movie Star at the gala’s 33rd annual show on Tuesday.

Depp’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” was presented with Best Film Drama as well as Favorite Movie. After grossing more than $1-billion worldwide there was little doubt that the movie, which co-starred Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Bill Nighy, along with Depp, would grab its share of treasure at the awards show.

Depp and Knightley also received the award for Best On-Screen Matchup for ‘Pirates.’

Jennifer Aniston, who starred in “The Break-Up,” was presented with the People’s Choice Award as Best Female Star. Her co-star in the film, Vince Vaugh, was awarded Best Leading Man.
 
Best Leading Lady was awarded to Cameron Diaz who was in “The Holiday” with Jack Black, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet.

Best Female Action Star went to Halle Berry who continued to draw attention for her role in ‘X-Men 3.’

The Adam Sandler hit ‘Click’ was awarded Best Movie Comedy while the animated flick ‘Cars’ took the honors for Best Family Movie.
 
As for the small screen it was ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ taking Best Drama, ‘The Simpson’ won for Best Animated Comedy, ‘Two and a Half Men’ grabbed Best Comedy and ‘American Idol’ was presented with Best Competition/Reality Show.

Eva Longoria was bestowed the honor of Best Female Star and Patrick Dempsey too the award as Best Male Star. ‘The Class’ was voted as Best New Comedy while ‘Heroes’ was declared Best New Drama.

Ellen DeGeneres was voted Best Talk Show Host. DeGeneres was also awarded Funny Female Star, Robin Williams nabbed the Funny Male Star award.

Country was the name of the game for music as the people voted Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney as Best Female and Male Singers. Underswood was also honored for Best Country Song, ‘Before He Cheats.’

Country group Rascal Flatts were awarded for ‘Life is a Highway’ the song was named Best Remake and Best Song from a Movie.
