Dallas Drake scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Barrett Jackman had a pair of assists as the St. Louis Blues (15-21-7) skated past the New Jersey Devils (25-14-4) 3-2. With the Blues trailing 2-1 in the second period Dan Hinote evened the scoring in the third minute before Drake gave the Blues the lead at 9:35 in the second. Brian Rafalski had a two assists in the Devils loss.
The Florida Panthers (16-20-9) got a hat-trick from Olli Jokinen and scored three third period goals to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins (18-17-7) 5-2. Jokinen scored in the first, second, and third periods for the Panthers and Martin Gelinas added a goal and two assists for Florida. Evgeni Malkin scored his 20th goal of the season for the Penguins.
Ryan Miller stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced to help the Buffalo Sabres (31-9-3) beat the Chicago Blackhawks (17-21-5) 2-1. Jochen Hecht put the Sabres on the board in the fifth minute of the first period and Maxim Afinogenov gave them a 2-0 lead in the third before Chicago scored a shorthanded goal off the stick of Denis Arkhipov with 50 seconds remaining.
The Edmonton Oilers (21-18-4) scored all three of their goals in the first period and made it stand up as they beat the San Jose Sharks (28-15-0) 3-2. Marc-Andre Bergeron scored a power play goal and assisted on Jarret Stoll’s power play goal while Dwayne Roloson stopped 32 shots to lift the Oilers. Stoll assisted on Bergeron’s goal as well. Jonathan Cheechoo scored a power play goal for the Sharks in the third period but San Jose couldn’t manage to find the back of the net again.
