David Beckham has announced that he will be crossing the pond and playing in the United States beginning in August. With the winds of change sweeping through his European club team Real Madrid it became apparent to Beckham that he was no longer in their long-term plans.
Beckham, 31, along with superstar Ronaldo, have fallen out of favor with Real Madrid’s coach Fabio Capello.
The former English captain and World Cup veteran told reporters “After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.”
The five-year deal is reported to be worth $250 million over the duration of the contract.
