In what Democrats hope to be the beginning of a White House takeover, the 2008 DNC will be held in Denver, Colorado.
The Mile High City beat out runner-up New York to hold the convention on August 25-28. Some 35,000 people are expected to enter the city during the event in which Democrats will gather at the Pepsi Center to announce their presidential nominee.
The last time Denver hosted such an event was 1908 when the Democrats opted to pit William Jennings Bryan against the Republican William Howard Taft, an election won by Taft.
The Republicans will be holding their convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul the week after the DNC.
