Saddam Hussein Execution Carried Out After Former Leader Asked Lawyers Not to Appeal Sentence

According to the will of Saddam Hussein any appeals for his life planned by his lawyers were to be dropped. The former dictator instructed his defense council not to appeal his death sentence and went on to say that the United States and Iran had worked together to carry out his execution.

Hussein gave his chief lawyer Khalil al-Dulaimi power to “decide whatever is related to me, except appealing for the life of Saddam Hussein to any of the presidents, kings, Arabs or foreigners.”

Dulaimi met with Hussein 24 hours prior to his hanging, at the meeting Hussein dictated his will. As part of his will he requested his burial to take place in Ouja or Ramadi, leaving the decision up to his daughter Raghad.

Raghad elected to have her father buried in his birthplace, Ouja.

Hussein was executed on Dec. 30 for the killing of 148 people in Dujail in 1982. Hussein had also faced charges of slaughtering thousands of Kurds but those were dropped after his execution.

The execution of Saddam Hussein stirred outrage amongst his Sunni party faithful and drew strong condemnation amongst international leaders for its lack of order. The execution video of Saddam Hussein was leaked to the internet and government officials that attended the hanging could be heard jeering the dictator moments before he dropped through the gallows floor.

Most recently a Saddam Hussein corpse video has surfaced that shows the lifeless body of Hussein on a hospital gurney with a gash in his neck.

Both videos can be seen at Finditt Videos. The videos are extremely graphic in nature.
