#6 Ohio State Buckeyes will host the Navy Midshipmen in their season opener on Saturday at noon ET.
The Buckeyes are led by sophomore sensation Terrelle Pryor, who showed flashes of brilliance last year. After entering the season as the nation’s top prospect, Pryor was not expected to start, but took over for QB Todd Boeckman after OSU got drilled by USC, 35-3.
Pryor completed 60.6% of his passes last year, throwing for 1,311 yards for 12 touchdowns, and ran for 631 yards and six TDs. Surprisingly, he was named Big Ten Preseason Offensive of the Year.
Seven offensive starters are gone, including Chris "Beanie" Wells and receivers Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline, while seven defensive starters return for Ohio St. However, the losses are severe, losing cornerback Malcolm Jenkins and linebacker James Laurinaitis, arguably the nation’s best players at their respective positions.
Navy had the nation's No. 1 rushing attack for the fourth straight year in 2008, gaining an average of 298.3 yards per game with their triple-option attack.
Midshipmen leading rushers Shun White and Eric Kettani have graduated, though, and so has quarterback Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada, leaving the offense in the hands of junior Ricky Dobbs.
