The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed Cee Lo Green is at the center of a sexual battery investigation. The investigation was launched this week after an unidentified woman filed a police report accusing the rapper and Voice mentor of assaulting her at a downtown restaurant. Investigators have already made a trip to the restaurant to question the manager and several other employees.
Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, has not been charged. He has denied the allegations to TMZ. "Nothing ever happened there or anywhere else," the 38-year-old told the Celebrity Gossip site.
Last month, NBC confirmed Green and pop star Christina Aguilera will not appear as mentors on season 4 of The Voice. The network said Usher and Shakira will replace the pair for at least one season. Original coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still on board for season four.
"We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.
Green promised to return for season 5 while Aguilera said she would return to the show “in the future.”
