Former U.S. Soldier Handed Five Life Sentences for Rape and Murder in Baghdad

Former American soldier Steven Green has been sentenced to five life sentences after a jury found the 24-year-old guilty of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and then killing her and her family while serving in Iraq in 2006.

Green was spared the death penalty by the Kentucky jury after they could not come to a unanimous decision on his punishment.

While four other soldiers were convicted for the crime Green was considered the ringleader. As part of his sentence Judge Thomas Russell ruled that Green would have no chance at parole.
