NHL Scores from Jan. 12; Scott Gomez, Tomas Vokoun, and Marian Gaborik lead their teams to wins
Scott Gomez scored a power play at 11:07 in the third period and Sergei Brylin followed with a power play goal of his own :28 seconds later and the New Jersey Devils (26-14-4) came back to beat the Atlanta Thrashers (24-14-8) 2-1. Scott Mellanby gave the Thrashers the lead in the first period but penalties killed the Thrashers chance of maintaining the lead.
Tomas Vokoun stopped all 22 shots he faced as the Nashville Predators (30-11-3) shutout the Columbus Blue Jackets (16-23-5) 2-0. Shea Weber scored a goal and had an assist for the Predators and Jason Arnott added a goal in the win.
Marian Gaborik scored a pair of goals including an empty netter at the end of the third period to give the Minnesota Wild (23-19-3) a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers (21-19-4). Petr Sykora scored in the second period for Edmonton to even the contest at 2-2 but Keith Carney gave the Wild the lead at 3-2 mid-way through the third and Gaborik finished the scoring for Minnesota with :3 seconds remaining.
