College Football Scores: #1 Florida Gators Roll Up 624 Yards of Offense in Blowout Win Over Charleston Southern

Tim Tebow got his #1 Florida Gators off on the right foot as the senior quarterback threw for 188 yards and a touchdown while adding a touchdown on the ground while Jeffrey Demps added 89 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and Aaron Hernandez had 78 yards receiving and a TD on five receptions in a 62-3 dismantling of the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Saturday.

Florida put a pair of touchdowns on the board in the first quarter with a 8-yard burst from Demps and then a 76-yard sprint from Chris Rainey to put the gators up 14-0. It went from bad to worse for the Bucs in the second quarter as Tebow punched in a TD from a yard out and three minutes later Demps found the endzone again, this time on a 23-yard scamper to make it 28-0. Tebow then went through the air for the Gators fifth touchdown, hitting Hernandez on a 28-yard strike. Charleston Southern managed to stop the bleeding with a with a 38-yard field-goal from John Paglia but on the ensuing kickoff Brandon James went 85-yards to push the Florida lead to 42-3.

Tebow’s day was done at halftime as John Brantley came on in the third quarter and the sophomore quarterback got in on the action with a pair of touchdown passes, a 7-yarder to Justin Williams and a 9-yarder to Cade Holliday to give the Gators a 55-3 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Mike Gillislee wrapped up the scoring for Florida in the fourth with a 7-yard touchdown run, putting the finishing touches on the Gators opening game romp.
