College Football Scores: #2 Texas Longhorns Crush Louisiana-Monroe, Colt McCoy Throws for 317 Yards in Rout

Colt McCoy was 21/29 passing for 317 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Jordan Shipley had eight receptions for 180 yards and a TD and Cody Johnson crossed the goal line three times as the #2 Texas Longhorns dismantled the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 59-20 on Saturday.

Johnson scored the Longhorns first three touchdowns, all one-yard runs, as Texas built a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter. Trey Revell pulled the Warhawks to within 21-10 after hitting Luther Ambrose on a 75-yard touchdown pass but the momentum quickly shifted back to Texas as D.J. Monroe took the ensuing kickoff back 89 yards for a TD. McCoy then put the Longhorns back in the endzone when he found Shipley on a 78-yard touchdown pass and Hunter Lawrence finished off the first half scoring with a 32-yard field goal to push the advantage to 38-10.

McCoy then put the game away early in the third quarter when he found John Chiles on a 14-yard toss to put the Longhorns in front 45-10. Texas would move in front 52-10 in the opening second of the fourth when Vondrell McGee ran one in from 4-yards out. Backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert got in on the scoring as well as he found the endzone on a 12-yard keeper.
