Beverley Mitchell is going to be a mom! The actress, who is perhaps best known for her role as Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven, tells People magazine that her baby is due in early April. The child will be the first for Mitchell and her husband of four years, accountant Michael Cameron.
Mitchell, 31, reveals she discovered her pregnancy after experiencing a strong sense of smell. “My sense of smell was off the charts, to the point where I could smell a kid’s dirty diaper from the other side of a restaurant,” she says.
The news came as a shock, Mitchell admits. “I was like, ‘No, it can’t be that.’ I took seven pregnancy tests. I went to the doctor and had two more tests and they were like, ‘Bev, usually when the first one comes out positive, the rest of them will all say the same thing,’” she tells People.
One of the first people Mitchell told was her close friend and former 7th Heaven co-star, Jessica Biel. “Jess was one of the first to know. I started crying,” Mitchell adds. “It was really exciting to share that with Auntie Jess.”
Mitchell currently stars on ABC’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
