The three men, Abdulla Ahmed Ali, 28, Tanvir Hussain, 28, and Assad Sarwar, 29, were arrested in August 2006 after they conspired to disguise bombs as drinks that they planned to place aboard at least seven flights.

This was the second trial for the three men, having already been convicted of conspiracy to murder but that jury could not come to an agreement on whether that conspiracy actually included plans to detonate devices on the planes.
