Vincent Lecavalier had a goal and an assist while Vaclav Prospal added a goal and two assists as the Tampa Bay Lightning (24-21-2) skated past the NY Islanders (21-20-4) 4-3. Alexei Yashin gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead in the first period before Tampa scored three unanswered goals. Martin St. Louis scored his 29th goal of the season for the Lightning.
Marco Sturm scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Boston Bruins (21-18-4) past the Buffalo Sabres (31-11-4) 3-2. The Bruins had a 1-0 lead in the first period but Derek Roy and Jochen Hecht scored for Buffalo to give them a 2-1 advantage. P.J. Axelsson then scored the equalizer with 1 second remaining in the first period. The contest went an additional two periods and an overtime period before Sturm scored the winner.
The Dallas Stars (27-18-1) scored a goal in each of the three periods to beat the Los Angeles Kings (16-25-6) 3-1. Stu Barnes, Niklas Hagman, and Trevor Daley each scored for the Stars while Mike Ribeiro collected two assists. Michael Cammalleri scored on a power play for the lone goal for the Kings.
Ed Jovanovski scored two goals and had an assist while Shane Doan and Ladislav Nagy each had a pair of assists as the Phoenix Coyotes (21-22-2) beat the St. Louis Blues (16-21-8) 5-4 in a shootout. Doan and Nagy each had a goal in the shootout phase to give the win to the Coyotes. Peter Sejna sent the game into extra time for the Blues on a goal with less than two minutes remaining in the third period.
The Nashville Predators (32-11-3) scored three goals in the third period to get past the Calgary Flames (24-16-4) 5-3. David Legwand had a goal and two assists and Martin Erat had a goal and an assist to earn the victory for the Predators. With the score tied 2-2 after the second period Nashville scored twice in the first four minutes of the third to take control of the game.
Dominik Hasek stopped all 23 shots he faced as the Detroit Red Wings (29-12-5) shutout the Montreal Canadiens (25-16-5) 2-0. Jiri Hudler opened the scoring for the Red Wings in the first period and Pavel Datsyuk added a third period goal to cap the scoring for Detroit.
Patrick Marleau had a goal and two assists for the San Jose Sharks (31-15-0) in a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche (22-20-3). Jonathan Cheechoo scored on a power play in the first period to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Cheechoo then assisted on the Marleau goal two minutes later. Joe Sakic scored the only goal for Colorado in the third period.
