Fidel Castro Condition Labeled “Very Grave”

Cuban leader Fidel Castro is said to be in a “very grave” condition after an intestinal infection has failed to improve. The 80-year-old Castro handed temporary power over to his brother, Raul Castro, back in July while he recovered from emergency intestinal surgery. Raul Castro was the Defense Minister at the time of Castro’s initial surgery.

Sources inside the Gragorio Maranon hospital have indicated that the man who has held absolute rule in Cuba since 1959 may not recover from his latest setback.

Castro suffered what was called an “acute intestinal crisis with sustained bleeding” which led to the transfer of power to his brother.

There has been speculation that Castro may be suffering from cancer but Cuban officials have denied the claim and remain adamant that their leader will return to public life.
