Democratic Sen. Barack Obama (Il.) has entered the 2008 presidential race with a vow to “change our politics.”
With a charismatic and compelling personality and set of ideals Obama’s popularity amongst Democrats has risen sharply. Obama has called for a more bi-partisan approach to politics in Washington and believes that he could implement the changes necessary to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans.
The 45-year-old freshman senator is expected to make a formal announcement declaring his presidential aspirations on February 10 when he visits his hometown Chicago.
Obama will be the fifth Democrat trying to work their way to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver. Joining him are John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd, Tom Vilsack. Hillary Clinton has yet to announce her candidacy but has said her decision will be made shortly.
