Yankee Stadium to Host 2008 MLB All-Star Game

The baseball park that played host to baseball legends such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle will be shutting its doors after the 2008 season but before it does, Yankee Stadium in New York will be the site of one last All-Star Game.

The last time Yankee Stadium hosted an All-Star Game was in 1977 when the National League beat the American League 7-5.

Next season the All-Star Game will be played at AT&T Park in San Francisco while the 2009 game will be at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

In 2003 it was decided that the league that won the All-Star game would automatically gain home-field advantage in that season’s World Series. The American League has won nine of the past ten contests. In 2002 the All-Star Game ended in a tie after both teams ran out of players.
