The secret wedding of Olympic soccer star Hope Solo and NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens was put in jeopardy Monday after Stevens was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence. According to reports, the alleged assault happened at a private home in Kirkland, Washington where Stevens and Solo were partying with friends. Stevens, 33, was taken into custody to face charges of fourth degree domestic violence, but a Kirkland Municipal Court judge released the footballer during a hearing Tuesday because of insufficient evidence. Solo attended the hearing. The case is still under investigation.
Solo and Stevens applied for a marriage license last Thursday and planned to tie the knot on Tuesday. They have been dating for about two months. Neither Solo nor Stevens has commented on their wedding plans or Monday’s incident.
Court documents show police were dispatched to the Kirkland residence around 3:45 a.m. Monday after receiving a disturbance call about a fight between 8 people. Solo’s brother Marcus made the 911 call. After officers studied the scene, Stevens was arrested. In the police report, officers noted that Stevens was wearing a bloodstained shirt and “appeared to be hiding” in an upstairs bedroom when they arrived. Stevens also confessed to arguing with Solo about whether they should stay in Washington or move to Florida after their marriage. Signs of a fight were found in the bedroom and Solo had a cut on her elbow.
At least two partygoers were found to have minor injuries. A man sustained multiple bruises and scratches, while a woman was treated for a hip injury at a nearby hospital.
