National Philanthropy Day Orange County 2009

Nine Outstanding Honorees Announced

The top philanthropists of 2009 will be honored at this year’s National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Orange County celebration.

NPD Orange County has become the most prominent philanthropic recognition event in Orange County with more than a thousand individuals, businesses and support organizations honored since its inception in 1986.

The 24th Annual NPD Awards Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Anaheim Marriott Hotel, 700 West Convention Way, Anaheim.

About 100 communities throughout North America celebrate this day by honoring the individuals, businesses and groups that have enhanced their communities though their philanthropy.

Heading the list of Outstanding Honorees this year are John and Elizabeth Stahr, recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A 2009 Special Judges Award for this year only, the Spirit of Community Award, goes to Ed Arnold of KOCE-TV in recognition of his lifelong service.

Local charity groups and nonprofit organizations submitted more than 100 entries for Outstanding Honorees. A panel of 25 community leaders selected the Outstanding Honorees to represent their peers and receive the top awards in the annual and special categories.

The event is produced by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and presented by the Orange County Register.
