Chris Brown is expanding his entertainment career in to modeling. The rapper confirms he recently signed a contract with the artist management division of Wilhelmina Models, one of the largest model management agencies in the world. The 23-year-old hopes to land modeling gigs with fashion and beauty companies.
"Art and style has always played a significant role in my life -- it's evolved with me throughout my career," Brown said in a statement.
Wilhelmina does not seem to be concerned that Brown’s public image has been damaged in recent years by a string of violent incidents, including the rapper’s 2009 felony assault arrest for beating then-girlfriend Rihanna. The 23-year-old is still on probation in the case.
"Chris Brown is a multifaceted artist with a unique take on style, and we are excited to translate and extend his brand," said Wilhelmina Men director Taylor Hendrich.
In a recent interview with MTV for This Is How I Made It, Brown said he is ok with his public image, be it good or bad. "I can't hate people for making judgment on me or making a decision of liking me or not liking me," he said. "All I can do is try to be better as a person, and I'm good with knowing everything isn't always going to be perfect."
