Daughter Of Jon Bon Jovi Escapes Drug Charges

Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, the oldest child of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, has escaped drug charges thanks to a 2011 penal code amendment that protects people from being charged with drug possession if they sought help from authorities for a "drug or alcohol overdose or other life-threatening medical emergency.”

"By law, they have immunity. I can’t prosecute them even if I wanted to,” said Oneida County District Attorney Scott D. McNamara. "To proceed would be highly inappropriate and highly unethical, and would jeopardize my opportunity to practice in the future."

Bon Jovi has not commented. Stephanie was rushed to a NY hospital early Wednesday after suffering a possible heroin overdose in her dorm room at Hamilton College in Kirkland. A search of the 19-year-old’s room uncovered heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was arrest on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Ian Grant, the 21-year-old student who called for help, was also charged with drug possession.

Stephanie is Bon Jovi’s first child with wife Dorothy Hurley. The couple of 23 years is also parents to sons Jesse, 17, Jacob, 10, and Romeo, 8.
