Boat with 150 Passengers Capsizes Off Coast of Sierra Leone, Dozens Feared Dead

A boat carrying about 150 passengers has capsized off the coast of Sierra Leone leaving at least eight dead and officials now fear dozens more may have perished in the accident.

According to reports the boat, said to be a small vessel with an outboard motor, had a capacity for about 25 people and the massive overcrowding was a direct cause in the boat’s fate as it traveling between Plantain Island and Shenge.

Rescue efforts have saved about 46 people but there remain several people unaccounted for and officials now fear the worst.
