The Florida Gators will be without their prized freshman receiver/running back Andre Debose for the remainder of the season after it was announced he would be undergoing surgery to repair a torn hamstring that has been bothering him since April.
Debose, considered by many to be the Gators next Percy Harvin, was the jewel in Urban Myer's sterling 2009 recruiting class and had been expected to fit right in to the Florida offense. While Tuesday’s announcement was a disappointment to Myer it wasn’t completely unexpected as Debose had tweaked the injury during summer workouts and again on the first day of fall practice.
Originally thought to be a pulled muscle, closer examination by doctors revealed a partial tear and the decision to operate was made.
