AeroMexico Jet Hijacked in Cancun, Flown to Mexico City

An AeroMexico Flight 576 jet carrying a reported 104 passengers from Cancun, Mexico has been hijacked by four armed men and flown directly to Mexico City where it is now sitting at the airport.

It is believed the Boeing 737 jet was taken over by the armed men while it was still on the ground at the Cancun airport. There have been reports that the armed men, said to be Colombian, threatened to detonate an explosive if they were not allowed to speak to Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon

The plane landed safely at the airport in Mexico City and it is believed that no passengers have been harmed. The demands of the hijackers are not immediately known.
