Caroline Wozniacki continued her impressive run at the 2009 U.S. Open on Wednesday evening, knocking off crowd favorite Melanie Oudin in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to advance to her first career Grand Slam semifinals.
Wozniacki played composed tennis, never allowing the partisan crowd to affect her play as she committed just 20 unforced errors compared to the 43 hit by Oudin. For the 17-year-old Oudin the magic ended as she struggled all night with her serve, winning just 52 percent of her first serves put in play and 27 percent of her second serves.
Wozniacki is coming off a strong performance in Wimbledon where she reached the fourth round before falling to Sabine Lisicki. The Dane has also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open while her best finish at the French Open was a third round appearance in 2008 and 2009.
