Before picking up three American Music Awards on Sunday, Justin Bieber made waves on the red carpet when he appeared with his mother Pattie Mallette on his arm. The pop star’s date night with his mom came on the heels of rumors his longtime love Selena Gomez dumped him over serious “trust issues.” Bieber, who scooped up 3 AMAs including artist of the year and favorite pop/rock male artist, did not comment on the rumors.
Although Gomez was not by Bieber’s side on the red carpet or during the awards ceremony, she did meet up with him at an after party hosted by his manager Scooter Braun. Witnesses say all appeared well between Gomez, 20, and Bieber, 18. One partygoer said the pair appeared in “great spirits and were clearly enjoying their time together.” Gomez and Bieber left together around 2:30 a.m.
Neither Gomez nor Bieber has spoken out about the status of their relationship. Last week an insider told Us Weekly magazine that the pair’s lack of time together is a big issue for them.
“It's been a really challenging experience over the last year because of their crazy schedules. Selena definitely had some major trust issues with Justin,” the insider said.
"Right now it is a break and tomorrow it could be back on knowing them . . . it's hard to say how they will end up," added the source. "Maybe she feels more serious about it this time. We'll see."
