NASCAR Driver Danica Patrick Ends 7 Year Marriage

Danica Patrick is set to divorce her husband of 7 years, physical therapist Paul Hospenthal. The former IndyCar driver announced the news Tuesday on her official Facebook page. She described the split as amicable.

"I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this," she wrote. "He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."

No other details were available. Patrick, 30, married Hospenthal, 47, in 2005 after a 1 year engagement. They reportedly met when Patrick underwent physical therapy at Hospenthal’s practice.

With her 2008 win at the Indy Japan 300, Patrick made history as the first woman to ever win an IndyCar race. Patrick made her NASCAR debut at the Daytona 500 in February 2012. She finished 35th due to a 12 car crash. She plans to continue competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series.
