El Paso Electric Company (NYSE: EE) has announced their new Chief Operating Officer. George A. Williams to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer which will become effective as of October 5th. Williams will oversee the generation as well as the transmission and distribution operation for El Paso Electric (NYSE: EE). The current Chief Operating Officer and EPE President will continue to serve as President and will assist in the transition until his retirement in March 2010.

During Bates 37 year term at El Paso Electric he has served as Chief Executive Officer, EVP, COO, as well as VP of Transmission and Distribution, Operation and Customer Services. He is currently listed on the boards of the Sun Bowl Association and the Children's Miracle Network.
Williams has 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President of Operation for Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), which is a division of Exelon Corporation. WIlliams has also served as VP of Operation at Energy Nuclear South, General Manager of Nuclear Assurance for PPL Susquehanna, as General Manager of Plant Operations for the Southern Region of Progress Energy Company, and as Director of Corporate Planning and Analysis at PECO Energy Company.
