NBA Scores from Jan. 18; Dwayne Wade, Jason Williams, Dirk Nowitzki, and Josh Howard lead their teams to wins
Dwyane Wade scored 33 points and handed out 8 assists while Jason Williams scored 20 and dealt 8 assists of his own to lead the Miami Heat (18-20) past the Indiana Pacers (20-19)104-101. The Heat were up by 15 points after the third quarter and wee able to fend off a Pacers rally in the fourth to earn the win. Indiana out-scored the Heat 31-19 in the final frame. Danny Granger had 28 points for the Pacers and Jermaine O’Neal finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Dallas Mavericks (33-8) built a 23 point lead after three quarters and went on to smother the Los Angeles Lakers (26-14) 114-95. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Howard had a big night with 29 points and 11 rebounds in the Dallas win. The Mavericks out-rebounded the Lakers 53-28 in the game and blocked 8 shots. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 26 points.
