American Idol Winner Kelly Clarkson in the Fast Lane, Partners with NASCAR

American Idol and Grammy-winning artist Kelly Clarkson, 24, has signed a partnership deal with NASCAR to promote the racing franchise.

Clarkson felt the partnership to be a natural fit saying “Anyone who knows me knows I'm a race fan and love NASCAR.”

According to a NASCAR spokesman Clarkson will be “integrated into all aspects of NASCAR.” NASCAR has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world and has successfully crossed over from its former reputation as a southern fixture to a universal appeal.

With Clarkson aboard NASCAR will be sure to gain greater leverage into a younger market and try to capitalize off the name recognition associated with the singer.

Clarkson’s debut will start at the Nextel “Tribute to America” concert that will be airing on Fox, the same station that brought Clarkson to fame on American Idol. That concert will be held shortly before NASCAR’s premier event, the Daytona 500 in Florida.

The season one American Idol winner has enjoyed huge success since being crowned the show’s first champ in 2002. Since that time her first album, “Thankful,” has gone double-platinum and her follow up, “Breakaway,” has been labeled multi-platinum.
