Angus T. Jones’ religious rant raised many eyebrows, including his mother’s. While Carey Jones doesn’t appear to doubt her teen son’s Christian faith, she is concerned that his church may be taking advantage of him.
“I'm concerned he's being exploited by the church,” she told the UK’s Daily Mail.
Carey, 42, did not offer any other information. Jones, 19, made headlines Monday after he called his CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men “filth” in a Youtube video in which he talked about his faith in God. The video was posted by Forerunner Christian Church.
"If you watch 'Two and a Half Men,' please stop watching 'Two and a Half Men.' I'm on 'Two and a Half Men,' and I don't want to be on it,” Jones, who has played Jake Harper since 2003, says. “Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth.”
“People say it’s just entertainment. ... Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, and especially with what you watch. It's bad news,” he continues.
“People will see us and be like, 'I can be a Christian and be on a show like Two and a Half Men.' You can't. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can't,” adds Jones.
CBS refused to comment. Jones renewed his contract this year to appear on the 10th season along with Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen as the lead character in 2011 when Sheen was fired.
