iRobot Corp Receives U.S. Army Order

iRobot Corp. (NASDAQ: IRBT) has announced that they have received an order from the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation. The order from the Army Program was for $6.1 million.

 

iRobot Corp and the U.S. Army hold a $200 million contract in which the value now stands around $30 million. In this particular order the U.S. Army Program needed spare parts for iRobot’s PackBot line. The robots are used in reconnaissance, route clearing missions and are also able to identify and neutralize improvised explosive devices.

 

A few of the spare parts needed by the U.S. Army Program were manipulator kits, battery packs, radios, antennas and hand controllers. iRobot has delivered more than 2,500 PackBot robots. These robot keep soldiers out of harms way by conducting dangerous missions by remote.
