Adam Foote scored a goal and an assist and Frederick Norrena stopped 41 shots to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets (18-25-5) past the Detroit Red Wings (3-13-5) 3-1. Johan Franzen cut the Red Wings deficit to 2-1 in the third before Foote sealed the win for the Blue Jackets. Dan Fritsche and Alexander Svitov each scored for Columbus.
Chris Drury scored the tying goal with :40 seconds remaining to force overtime and the Buffalo Sabres (33-11-4) went on to beat the Vancouver Canucks (27-19-2) in a shootout. Jason Pominville gave the Sabres a lead in the first period but the Canucks scored twice in the second period to gain the lead. Ales Kotalik scored the decider in the shootout.
Manny Fernandez stopped all 24 shots he faced and Marian Gaborik scored a pair of goals as the Minnesota Wild (25-20-3) beat the Chicago Blackhawks (17-23-7) 3-0. Marian Gaborik added a third period goal for the Wild as Chicago lost their eighth straight.
The Calgary Flames (25-17-4) built a 3-0 lead and held on to beat the Anaheim Ducks (30-12-8) 3-2. Dion Phaneuf scored a power play goal in the first period and added an assist while Alex Tanguay and Stephane Yelle each scored for the Flames. Scott Niedermayer scored both goals for the Ducks and Andy McDonald assisted on the pair.
