Russian PM Vladimir Putin Warns Against Military Action Targeting Iran

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has issued a stern warning to countries contemplating military action against Iran due to the continued development of their nuclear program. Iran has insisted its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes yet many Western countries have doubted those assurances.

Iran is already dealing with sanctions levied by a number of countries, including the United States and a new round of sanctions has been promised if they continue their nuclear pursuits. There have also been threats of a military attack on nuclear bases, a threat Putin has condemned.

Addressing the prospect of military action against Iran the Russian PM remarked that any attack on the country would be unacceptable and would likely lead to “an explosion of terrorism.”

The U.S. and Israel have expressed belief that Iran could be working toward building an atomic weapon, a fear that Putin recognized and addressed saying, “This is a dangerous region and Iran should show responsibility, especially by taking into account Israel's concerns.”
