Steve Nunn Arrested After Former Fiance Amanda Ross Shot to Death

Former Republican lawmaker Steve Nunn was arrested Friday house after his former fiancé Amanda Ross was shot to death. Nunn, 57, was arrested for violating a protective order that banned him from contacting Ross. He has not been charged in her death.

Nunn was arrested near his parents’ grave at their Kentucky farm. According to reports, he had cut himself and attempted to shoot himself. Nunn was taken to The Medical Center of Bowling Green for treatment of his injuries.

Kentucky State Police are investigating whether Nunn was involved in Ross’ death. “Our units are working with the Lexington Police Department to determine if there's any connection with Mr. Nunn in the homicide,” says Lt. David Jude.

Ross, 29, was found shot to death in the parking lot outside her home at the Opera House Square Town Homes in Lexington.

Nunn and Ross began dating in May of 2008. In February of this year, Nunn was arrested for beating Ross and he resigned from his position as Kentucky’s deputy secretary of Health and Family Services.
