NFL Odds Week 1: Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots Each Double-Digit Favorites in Season Openers

Football fans have plenty to look forward to as the NFL kicks off Week 1 will a schedule that promises a number of great games. Not only will there be some key early season matchups including the Redskins v. Giants and the Bears v. Packers but also the rookie debut of Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Lions QB Matt Stafford.

Odds makers have little faith in the new signal callers as the New York Jets head into Houston as a 4.5-point dog against the Texans while the Detroit Lions are a 13-point dog on the road against the New Orleans Saints.

Questions surrounding the health of Matt Cassell have the Kansas City Chiefs listed as a 12.5-point road underdog against the Baltimore Ravens while the addition of Brett Favre has put the Minnesota Vikings at a 4-point favorite when they travel to face the Cleveland Browns and new starter Brady Quinn.

Matt Ryan will lead the Atlanta Falcons as a 4-point favorite at home against the Miami Dolphins while Carson Palmer and Ocho Cinco have the Cincinnati Bengals posted as a 4.5-point favorite against the visiting Denver Broncos.

Peyton Manning will begin the Post Tony Dungy era for the Indianapolis Colts as a 7-point favorite over the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars while changes at the head coaching position in Tampa Bay have the Buccaneers as a 5.5-point home underdog against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Carolina Panthers have dropped to a 2.5-point home dog against Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles. In a key matchup in the NFC East the NY Giants open as a 6.5-point favorite over the Washington Redskins and in the NFC Central the Green Bay Packers start their season as a 3.5-point favorite when they host the Chicago Bears.

Seattle looks to shake off a disappointing 2008 NFL season and will open at home as a 7-point favorite against the St. Louis Rams while the NFC West will also showcase the Arizona Cardinals as a 6.5-point favorite when they host the San Francisco 49ers.

On Monday night the Patriots get to see Tom Brady back under center and the odds makers are clearly in favor as they have placed New England as a 10.5-point favorite over the Buffalo Bills and the newly acquired Terrell Owens. In Monday night’s second game the San Diego Chargers hit the road as a 9.5-point favorite in an AFC West showdown against the Oakland Raiders.
