A new mom appears to have taken her love of social media to the extreme. In a birth announcement on her Facebook page, the woman called her daughter Hashtag. The name is an apparent tribute to Twitter.
"Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys [sic] 8pounds and I luv her so much!!!!!" wrote the woman, who has only been identified by her last name of Jameson.
It is unclear if the announcement was a joke. No other details were available.
If it’s real it won’t be the first time a parents has named their child after a favorite website. Last year, two newborn girls were named after Facebook. A couple in Egypt decided to call their daughter Facebook to show their thanks for the social networking site’s role in their country’s revolution. An Israeli couple then named their newborn Like after the “Like” button on Facebook.
"When I posted her picture and name on Facebook I got 40 Likes," the Israeli father told newspaper Maariv. "Considering that I have only a little more than 100 friends on the network that's a lot."
