College Football Scores: #1 Florida Gators Crush Troy Trojans, Tim Tebow Accounts for Five TDs in Blowout

Tim Tebow was 15/24 passing for 237 yards and four touchdowns and added another 71 yards on the ground and a TD, Riley Cooper had five receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown and the Florida Gators (2-0) defense limited the Troy Trojans (0-2) to just 139 yards of total offense in a 56-6 blasting in the Swamp on Saturday.

The Gators jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after Tebow found Deonte Thompson on a 6-yard touchdown pass but the Trojans managed to cut their deficit late in the frame following a 45-yard field goal from Sam Glusman.

While the Trojans held their own in the first quarter the second was a different story as the Gators opened it up. Tebow got things started with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Cooper and then followed that with a 4-yard touchdown run of his own to push the Florida lead to 21-3. Tebow went to the air again for the fourth Gators touchdown, finding Thompson once more, this time on a 33-yard toss. Florida then finished off the scoring in the opening half with a 24-yard touchdown run from Jeffery Demps and the score was 35-3 at the break.

It didn’t get any better for the Trojans in the third quarter as Tebow tossed another long TD, this time to Brandon James for a 32-yard score and when Chris Rainey punched one in from a yard out the Gators were up 49-3. Troy managed to put a field goal on the board late in the third but by that point the game was clearly over.

For the second straight game Jeff Brantley saw some time as the Gators signal called and sophomore signal caller finished the game 10/12 passing for 137 yards, one of those completions being a 6-yard touchdown to Mike Gillislee in the fourth quarter.
