Prescription Drug Addict Recovers Through Narconon

Because of her addiction to pills, Tanya Mesa didn’t have much of a life. She lost her job, her physical health was deteriorating, and worst of all she lost the love and respect of her family.

“I lied and stole money and pills from my family,” explains. Tanya “It had gotten so bad that if I didn’t have 4 or 5 pills in the morning, I couldn’t get out of bed. That wasn’t living.”

What is most surprising about Tanya’s substance abuse issues is that it started innocently enough. At the age of 13 she had to undergo several surgeries that led her down the road to prescription pain medications. To complicate this, when she was 25 she had a car accident that gave her further access to the drugs. By the time Tanya came to the Narconon Freedom Center drug and alcohol rehabilitation program she was addicted to Lortab, Valium, Xanax and OxyContin; all starting with legal prescriptions. She had also gone on to use street drugs such as ecstasy, and cocaine.

“My addiction had gotten so bad that I was forging prescriptions,” explains Tanya. “I tried to take my own life twice and ended up at the intensive care unit.”

“I couldn’t take it anymore,” she adds. “Something had to be done.” The solution that Tanya found was Narconon Freedom Center and she enrolled immediately.

Narconon Freedom Center is a long-term residential drug and alcohol rehab program located in Albion, Michigan. The program opened its doors in the state of Michigan 7 years ago and has helped many addicts, like Tanya, successfully recover from addiction. Narconon achieves a success rate of more than 70% for permanent recovery from substance abuse.

While enrolled in Narconon, Tanya went through many positive changes, but most importantly she was able to successfully recover from her addiction and get the things back she had lost that were so dear to her.

“I have my family back and we are closer than ever before,” she explains. “I love myself and can care about myself for the first time in years. [Thanks to Narconon] I have never been happier to be alive than I am now.”
