Darryl Clark was 20/31 passing for 240 yards and three touchdowns, Evan Royster had 102 yards rushing and receiving with touchdowns on the ground and air and the Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0) defense limited the Syracuse Orange (0-2) to 200 yards of total offense in a 28-7 victory on Saturday.
Penn State opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Clark to Royster for a 7-0 lead. That lead was extended to 14-0 in the second quarter when Royster found the endzone once again, this time on a 12-yard run and Penn State carried that advantage into halftime.
The Nittany Lions returned to the endzone in the third quarter on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Clark to Graham Zug and Clark put the game away early in the fourth when he found Mickey Shuler on a one-yard toss to make it 28-0. Syracuse finally got on the on the board when Greg Paulus found Donte Davis on a 16-yard touchdown pass but by that point the game was over.
