Lindsay Lohan is at it again - the troubled actress had another run-in with the law after allegedly punching a woman in the face early this morning. Lohan, 26, was arrested while trying to leave Manhattan’s Avenue nightclub around 4 a.m. Det. Mark Nell of the New York Police Department told People magazine Lohan has been charged with assault. Her accuser, 28-year-old Tiffany Eve Mitchell, was interviewed at a nearby police station and released without charge.
"This morning at 4 a dispute broke out at Avenue located at 116 10th Avenue. A female 26-year-old assaulted a female 28-year old. Lindsay Lohan was arrested and charged with assault,” Det. Nell told People.
Lohan was released around 8 o’clock. She will appear in court on January 11. A rep for the Liz and Dick star has not commented.
According to reports, the incident happened inside the club when Lohan and Mitchell exchanged words. Lohan is said to have asked Mitchell for space. An insider said Lohan then sat down briefly, but got back up and punched Mitchell. Mitchell called police.
As Lohan was being handcuffed she reportedly said, "Oh my God! I didn't touch anyone!"
The incident comes just 7 months after a judge took Lohan off probation in her 2007 DUI arrests. The judge kept Lohan on informal probation in her 2011 necklace theft case until May 24, 2014. If Lohan violates her probation by breaking any laws, she could face up to 245 days in jail.
In addition to multiple arrests and jail sentences, Lohan’s troubled past includes 5 stints in rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.
