NFL Week 1 Scores: Denver Broncos Use Miracle Finish to Beat Cincinnati Bengals in Season Opener

Kyle Orton was 17/28 passing for 243 yards and a touchdown in his debut, Matt Prater had a pair of long field goals and Brandon Stokley pulled down a miraculous catch with seconds left in the game and went 87-yards for a touchdown to give the Denver Broncos a stunning 12-7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The first half featured almost no offense as both teams struggled to move the ball but Prater managed to get the Broncos on the board with a 48-yard field goal as time expired to end the first half. It was Prater who provided the only points of the third quarter as the Broncos kicker was good from 50-yards and Denver carried that 6-0 lead into the fourth.

Despite showing no signs of actually putting points on the board the Bengals managed to stage a late drive and when Cedric Benson crossed the goal line with 38 seconds left in the game it looked like it would be Cincinnati stunning Denver. That wouldn’t be the case though as Orton, forced to start the winning drive from his own 13-yard-line threw a long pass down the sideline to Brandon Marshall which was tipped by Bengals cornerback Leon Hall and landed in the hands of Stokley who went 87-yards for the game winner.
