Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the famous Jackson family, was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital late Wednesday after feeling dizziness and “tightness in his head.” A source tells People magazine the 84-year-old called a friend to take him to the hospital.
"He was sitting down and then found he couldn't stand up. When he finally was able to, he found himself without balance and falling into the walls,” the source says.
Doctors at University Medical Center determined Jackson had suffered a mild stroke. He was held for observation on Thursday, and is expected to be discharged sometime today. His wife of 63 years, Katherine Jackson, is at his side. The stroke is Jackson’s third in 5 years. No other details on his condition were available.
The Jackson family has not commented.
Jackson managed the entertainment careers some of his children, including Janet Jackson and the late Michael Jackson. He also created and managed The Jackson 5, which was made up of Michael and his four other sons - Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson and Marlon Jackson.
