The West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center will be transformed into “a stately pleasure dome” for the 2009 Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Creative Arts Ball on September 12, following the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and the Governors Ball on September 20, following the 61st Primetime Emmy® Awards. Two thousand nine hundred guests are expected to attend the Creative Arts Ball; three thousand five hundred guests are expected at the Governors Ball. The latter event is recognized as the largest annual formal dinner in the United States. For the twelfth consecutive year, Sequoia Productions will be producing the Ball.
Xanadu will be an extravaganza of vivid colors, a Sultan’s Palace replete with 2,000 yards of Fortuny-like patterned silk hanging tent-like from the Convention Center’s 36’-high ceilings. For the fourth year, Grey Goose® Vodka is the Official Spirits Sponsor of the Emmy celebrations; in keeping with the “pleasure dome” theme, its specialty cocktail – “The Emmy®” – is an original orange-flavored and orange-colored delight. The Official Wine Sponsor is Beaulieu Vineyard; this is the sixth year BV wine has been served, the fourth year the esteemed Napa Valley winery has been designated “Official Wine Sponsor.”
DOVE ® Chocolate returns for its fifth consecutive year as the official chocolate sponsor of the Emmy celebration events; this year DOVE® will introduce FLING® Chocolate – a new chocolate truffle treat – to Hollywood via the Emmys. Tables will be adorned with signature floral creations by laPremier Floral Event Design. Under the watchful eyes of Chef & Founder Joachim Splichal and Executive Chef Alec Lestr of Patina Restaurant Group, 177 on-site chefs will prepare food for the 2,900 guests at the Creative Arts Ball and 3,500 guests at the Governors Ball. This is the 14th year Patina has prepared superb dishes for the Emmy mega-events.
For the first time, Zinio has been named the official digital-publishing partner of The 61st Primetime Emmy® Awards. A 60” screen will reveal the global launch of “Celebrating…Emmy,” a customized publication providing entertainment fans worldwide with digital access to never-before-seen content that can be enjoyed on almost any device. Bridging the gap from the red carpet and television to a “to-go” format, the free, Zinio-powered publication (www.zinio.com/celebratingemmy) offers fans an unprecedented peek into the upcoming Emmy Awards and exclusive Governor’s Ball.
