Close-Up Talk Radio Spotlights Dr. Brenda Pike of Indiana State Teachers Assoc.

Indianapolis, IN – The topic of school reform has become quite controversial over the years. Everyone from school administrators, teachers, parents, to students deserve the best. The goal should be clear: to educate and create a well-informed and ambitious future generation. There is always controversy as to the functions, treatment, and handling of those that are placed in charge of crafting the hopes and determination of these future generations. But who is looking out for the best of both teachers and students? What is most efficient way to achieve the best education environment for both teachers and students?

To address those concerns, Dr. Brenda Pike, Executive Director of the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA), will be featured and discussing school reform and the functions of ISTA in a two-part series with host Doug Llewelyn on Friday December 7th and Friday December 14th at www.blogtalkradio.com/closeuptalkradio. Both shows will air at 1:30 p.m. EST on their respective dates. Listeners are encouraged to dial-in at 347-996-3389.

For more than 150 years, the Indiana State Teachers Association “has adhered to its original premise that equal educational opportunity for the fullest individual development is the inherent right of every American and, further, that public education is basic to our democracy and to the perpetuation of our American way of life.”

Pike joined ISTA in 2010 after 31 years of experience in education. After receiving her master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee, Brenda taught in small rural areas and volunteered in local teacher unions. “Teachers worked together to advocate improved working conditions and respectable salaries.” says Pike.

Pike received her doctorate from Memphis State University and from there, dove deeper into enhancing the education system. She managed education programs in both Texas and Tennessee before being recruited by the ISTA.

“School reform has made an impact on adults more than children,” says Pike. ISTA has diligently worked to direct the impact of school reform on the youth through collective action. All actions are aimed to benefit the education of the students equally. ISTA offers scholarships, grants, and awards to assist everyone with achieving their dreams. At the official site, www.ista-in.org, people can see all of the incredible avenues of assistance and success stories to come out of the hard work from the Association.

ISTA has accomplished outstanding feats in its existence including defeating countless bills that would hinder education. The organization unites over 45,000 education professionals and aims to achieve so much more to propel the future of all of those involved in the Indiana education system while enhancing the ideal vision of school reform.
